Description

Renovation of Palazzo Borromeo, a seventeenth-century building located in the enchanting setting of Isola Bella. The work began with the construction of perimeter scaffolding and a temporary roof made from scaffolding and lattice girders, in order to allow renovation of the existing roof. Existing tiles were selected and recovered for subsequent repositioning. Careful restoration work was carried out on the façade, in particular the removal of damaged parts, surface cleaning using the Jos-Rotec system, and new renderings using hydraulic lime mortar. The cleaning and restoration work also involved stone materials and cornices, while the railings and gates were treated with protective paint. The beautiful trompe l'oeil and pilasters of the portico were treated with surface protection measures and the work also involved the restoration of architectural artefacts in the Gardens.
